Cultural Captivity: A Pathway to Freedom

Culture influences us more than we realize. Keeping up with the Joneses, A.I., reality TV, pace of life, cars, smart phones, music, lifestyles, clothes, consumerism . . . and the list goes on. Often if we stop to think, we realize that culture has come to control our lives more than we ever remember giving it permission to. Come and explore with others how freely you make decisions and how much is determined by culture. Find out how it might feel to be truly free and what steps you might take to move toward that freedom.

Cultural Captivity is a 10-week, cohort based course. Each week will consist of one group class session (1.5 hrs.) and daily rhythms of prayer, learning, and action. Like all ReWire formation, the structure and dynamic of this course is built to reflect our Inward, Outward, Together discipleship process.

Facilitator: This course will be facilitated by an experienced ReWire team member

Location: This entire course and cohort will be hosted virtually, live in the ReWire Hub (Unless otherwise pre-arranged as an in-person cohort)

  • Week 4 - Our Drug of Choice

  • Week 5 - Commitment: Steps 1, 2, & 3

  • Week 6 - Rigorous Moral Inventory: Steps 4, 5 

  • Week 7 - Repentance/Amends: Steps 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 

  • Week 8 - Beloved: Step 11 

  • Week 9 - Service/Solidarity: Step 12 

  • Week 10 - Community of “Resistance and Recovery”

What is ReWireU?

ReWireU is ReWire's online center for missional living and offers a variety of easily accessible spiritual formation courses and cohorts. Our virtual formation courses are facilitated live, by experienced ReWire directors. Each course space is private to those participating in each cohort and our environments are intended to be dynamic, offering true spiritual formation online.
